L A M P is a small organization that devotes itself to promoting and connecting emerging talents to new markets in lighting design. This is an opportunity to showcase your work outside of the costly trade show environment. Participation in L A M P as a finalist affords you the following benefits:

● Online feature on the L A M P website for the duration of one year following finalist announcement and listed on our site in perpetuity.

● As a finalist your design will be promoted through our newsletters and social media.

CHERYL S. DURST, HON. FIIDA Executive Vice President and CEO, IIDA

An exceptional communicator, innovator, and visionary leader, Cheryl S. Durst has spurred progress, driven change, and encouraged the expansion of the interior design industry. As the Executive Vice President and CEO of the International Interior Design Association, Cheryl is committed to achieving broad recognition for the value of design and its significant role in society. With 15,000 members across 58 countries, Cheryl oversees the strategic direction of IIDA, setting an agenda that leads the industry in creating community, advancing advocacy and continuing decades of work toward equity. Cheryl is a member of the International WELL Building Institute Governance Council; as well as a Trustee for Chicago’s Museum of Contemporary Art and the NYSID. She has been referred to by Interior Design magazine as “an ambassador for innovation and expansion, and a visionary strategist.” Cheryl was inducted into the prestigious Interior Design Hall of Fame in 2016 as the recipient of its first-ever Leadership Award. She is the first African American woman to be inducted into the industry’s Hall of Fame. A lifelong knowledge enthusiast and voracious reader who has considered librarian, astronaut and journalist as potential careers, Cheryl never walks away from meeting someone without gleaning a bit of their story — a talent she currently employs on her monthly podcast, The Skill Set, which focuses on the intangible skills that make us good at what we do.

BRIAN RICHER

is a designer and artist living and working in Detroit, Michigan. His practice and work, over the years, has been wide and varied. From stone carving, industrial design and lighting, to restaurant ownership and interior design. Always pushing the boundaries in whatever industry, medium or material he engages in.

Richer graduated from York University with a BA in English Literature and Philosophy and holds an Arts Diploma from Centennial College.

After university, Brian started as a stone carver in Ontario. Specializing in architectural stone carving. He has worked on many large projects throughout Canada and the US. Brian is a member of the Guild Institute of Stone and Restoration Masons.

Since 2007 Brian has co-owned Castor Design. As known for their innovative lighting and furniture products that recontextualize familiar materials in unexpected ways, as they are for their design work for other brands. Including recent work designing products for Houseplant and Coming Soon.

With Castor Design, Richer has designed installations, been showcased in exhibitions and conventions, won awards and has had his products featured in hotels, retail environments, restaurants, and corporate headquarters around the world. And in 2018, along with Matty Matheson, founded Matheson - a contemporary and design minded homewares company with a special emphasis on the kitchen and cookware.

RODRIGO FERNÁNDEZ

In the vibrant world of lighting design, Rodrigo Fernández is a beacon of inspiration and leadership with over 15 years of experience in the industry. Co-founder and director of Diez Company, the leading lighting company in Mexico, as well as the creator of The Light Report and Maison Diez Company, Rodrigo has established himself as a pioneer in his field.

A graduate of Tecnológico de Monterrey in Mexico City with a degree in Industrial Design, Rodrigo is a passionate advocate for lighting as a form of art and expression. His leadership at Diez Company has transformed the company into an undisputed leader in the Mexican lighting sector, participating in renowned projects across the country, including Ritz Carlton, Four Seasons, Marriott, Hilton, Montage, Solaz, Edition, Auberge, and the upcoming opening of Soho House in Mexico City.

As the exclusive distributor of international brands, Diez Company has paved the way for excellence in lighting design for clients throughout Mexico, with an online store at diezcompany.mx that extends its global reach. Rodrigo Fernández is also the visionary behind The Light Report, a digital platform and print magazine that highlights the latest trends in global lighting design in Spanish.

His influence goes beyond the business world, as he is committed to education as a professor at Centro de Diseño, Cine y Televisión University in Mexico City. Additionally, he is the creator and curator of the innovative concept Maison Diez Company, an annual event that brings together designers, interior designers, and architects in Mexico, setting lighting design trends for the coming year.

Rodrigo Fernández embodies the fusion of creativity, innovation, and education in the world of lighting design, with a mastery that transcends the national lighting industry.
