Sguardo
by Vico Vercelloni
CONCEPT STATEMENT:
Sguardo Lamp was born from an encounter and a simple gesture. During a trip to Asia, I met a man sitting outside a shop wearing a large straw farmer's hat, with his gaze directed downward. He caught my attention, and I decided to go ask for some information. It was only when he bent part of the brim of his hat with his hand that our eyes met, leading to a conversation. It was from this small and simple gesture that this table lamp was born, from the simple glance of a person. The fold of the lamp's shade is designed to echo the movement of the brim of the large straw hat worn by the farmer, utilizing this fold to create directional side lighting. It is a portable, rechargeable lamp, charged via USB-C, and thought in three different colors.
PROJECT SPECS:
The dimensions of the lamp are 27cm in height, the body has a diameter of 7cm and the lampshade has a width of 18cm. The entire lamp is made of powder-coated, recycled and recyclable die-cast aluminium, while the lampshade is made of LDPE made by injection moulding. The LED light source is warm white 2700K, and the battery offers up to 8-9 hours of battery life.
