Carol Gay
Carol Gay was born in Sao Paulo in 1976. She graduated in the year of 2000 at Mackenzie University in Architecture and Urbanism program. Past experiences include a Personal Study program with artist Silvio Dworecki from 1994 to 1997; in the year of 1995 she graduated at Pan-American school of art in interior design program. In 1998 Studied set design with Paulinho de Morais; from 1999 to 2000 she took part in the “ Construction of the Object” workshop held at MUBE “The Brazilian Museum of Sculpture and Ecology”, with the designers Fernando and Humberto Campana; in 2005 she attended the sculpture workshop at FAAP given by the artist Nicolas Vlavianos, on the same year she enrolled in the Lighting workshop at SENAC given by designer Tobias Reischle - a co- worker at Ingo Maurer studio.
Gave workshops in partnership with Notechdesign group - group formed by the students that took part in the Campana Brother’s workshop – at La Sapienza University in Rome, Italy and at MUBE in São Paulo, Brazil.
Worked at the Brazilian design furniture company Tok&Stok – São Paulo, Brazil – as a product designer from 2002 to 2004.
In 2004 was selected along with eight other designers from around the world to participate in the workshop “Il vetro temperado per la casa e la ristorazione” at the Bormioli Rocco’s glass studio, in Fidenza, Italy.
In 2006 was invited to participate in the exhibition ‘Wallpaper Global Edit’, by Wallpaper magazine, at Armani’s Theater during the I Salone del Mobile in Milan, Italy.
In 2008 she was invited to be part of the jury in the ‘Museu da Casa Brasileira 22º Design Prize ‘ in São Paulo, Brazil.
In 2012 was invited by Firma Casa design Gallery to be part of their design team with her limited edition Copper coffee table.
In 2014 begin a new design group called (IN) vasion curated by Waldick Jatoba .
In 2014 was selected by the Ambiente Fair, among 28 designers from all over the world, to exhibit at the ‘Talents 2014’ area, a platform for up-and-coming designers, in Frankfurt, Germany.
At the same year was invited by Roberto Cocenza from BoomSpDesign to be part of the exhibition ‘ The Swing Chair Project” at an exhibition in the Museu da Casa Brasileira in São Paulo, Brazil.
In 2018 she was invited to exhibit at the Salone Satellite in the exhibition: African & Latin America: Rising Design/Design Emergente curated by Fernando and Humberto Campana during I Salone del Mobile in Milan, Italy.
In 2018 she started to collaborate with the Campana Institute.
From 2000 she has been involved in exhibitions in Brasil, EUA, Europe and Asia.
She has her work published in books such as: Woman Made: Great Women Design edited by Jane Hall , Bloom Brasil – Saboroso e Bloom Brasil – Fé edited by the trend setter Li Edelkoort ; Brazilian Modern Furniture edited by Maria Cecília Loschiavo, Brazilian Design Lamps edited by Marcelo Vasconcellos and Nada Se Leva.
