Od Ana

by Cenk A. Kaya, Cenkkaya Design Studio

CONCEPT STATEMENT:

Not just function, not just form, not just aesthetic. Od Ana's design, considering the design and production conditions, is the result of an integrative perspective between conscious preference and renunciation. Not more, not less. The primary conceptual basis of Od Ana consists of simplicity. Simplicity and banality; is like two points standing side by side on a circle. The sophisticated harmony of material, function and form can only be achieved by experiencing all points that constitute the circle.

Od Ana was named after the fire goddess Od Ana in Turkish Mythology. Depicted by the Yakut Turks as a white-haired woman, the goddess protects the family and the fire; the heart of the house.

PROJECT SPECS:

Handcrafted by skilled artisans & produced exclusively in limited quantity. Spruce Tree was sourced for production. The light box was crafted using a wood spindle moulding technique and the base cylindrical legs formed using a wood turning lathe. A water-based varnish was applied to the refined spruce wood. Artisans shaped the stainless steel forming the metal cage and legs, electrostatic paint applied giving a final finish. H: 387 mm L: 235 mm W: 218 mm
